Graduate Student and Teaching Fellow, Shepherd School of Music, Rice University
Shane Monds is a composer whose goal is to find new creative outlets for music by making connections between different creative fields. As a result, he frequently collaborates with film-makers, visual artists and scientists. He is a doctoral teaching fellow at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music and also serves the University of Houston Moores School of Music as the assistant piano technician. His musical language and interest is driven by research into tuning/intonation history and music cognition. Mr. Monds currently serves as the Da Camera:Houston Young Artist Composer-in-Residence and he will be an associate Artist-in-Residence at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in the Summer of 2016. When not involved in music, Shane can be found in the kitchen or studying the ancient game of Go.
