Melissa Rose Leider

Melissa Leider is currently completing her Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) at James Madison University, where she earned Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education and Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies in May 2016. Her research focuses on music performance anxiety at the collegiate level, specifically investigating the relationship between perceived music performance anxiety and levels of the hormone cortisol, an indicator of psychological stress. Melissa has presented results at the Virginia Music Educator’s Conference (2014) and the Symposium for Young Neuroscientists and Professors of the Southeast (2015). After completing her MAT, Melissa plans to teach middle school Language Arts as well as continue to engage in research about performance anxiety.
